When it comes to power and the sheer ability to make money, could you really be finished at the seemingly young age of 40? According to a recent edition of FORTUNE magazine, the answer is a resounding yes. At a recent job fair, the registration form actually listed "over 40" as a minority status. Some companies are changing compensation models that are based on longevity to instead emphasize only the past year's performance. The corporate door that once swung shut at age 50 now seems to be slamming on those who are just hitting their 40s. Place the blame on technology, the constant pressure to produce, and demographics. In the new economy, experience, skills, and the wisdom that comes with age now count for less.
